Flash, molotov, explosive or smoke: grenades all answer very specific needs in PUBG and can help your team to get through situations. While smoke grenades create temporary obstacles you can play around to save time or protect yourself and are often used as a defensive tool, other grenades are very useful when it comes to solve team fights, and improve your odds to win them out.

Molotov and explosive grenades, when used with great precisions are often a determining factor to win a fight: through zoning, poke, or even a knock, every bit of damage you can get provides a notable advantage, and will help your team take over another team.

In this article, we’ll take a close look at most performing players at PGI.S in term of offensive grenades usage, and understand how their performance allow their team to shine after two weeks of competition.

Players

Europe and North American are well represented in this top 3 with most consistent grenades users across the field of 132 unique players in PGI.S with respectively 37, 48 and 39 games played so far.

Despite a very unique format during Weekly Survival, players have played a roughly similar amount of games, and consistency from PurdyKurty and Jeemzz are definitely not to be ignored regarding their respective team qualification during both weeks.

PurdyKurty, with an average of 51,44 during week 1 survival, and 86,67 during week 2 survival, has made sure STK is the best team in this format so far.

However, Team Liquid has played a much more passive play style and even if Jeemzz numbers are way lower (11,42 and 15,65), he has been decisive in crucial moments, through a smart positioning and decisive shooting abilities.

Teams

Source

It’s no surprise to find STK, ENCE and TL in the 5 best teams when it comes to grenades usage. It shows that not only they have an excellent player in this field, but it also shows it has been a team concern during the year, and certainly a lot of work to improve this specific skill across the team.

4AM and VP complete the top 5 with excellent and equal performances from their players.

Even if teams’ grenades usage depend of a lot of factors, teams who are able to consistently reach late-game, and pick fights/situations they already have an edge entering in can push their advantages to the maximum, and make the best use of their stuff to guarantee additional points on the leaderboard.

Conclusion

For teams such as SQ, META, TSM or even T1, spending time reconsidering the way they use nades could be a solution to improve their consistency for the end of the tournament, and could be the determining factor between an average and excellent performance during PGI.S.
