What to expect this week at PGI.S?
While Weekly Survival has generated a lot of controversy during the last weeks due to his RNG heavy and unfair format, traditional series, from Rank Decision to Weekly Finals, have delivered a lot of action so far, with impressive performances from SQ and KIA, AF, and 4AM.
The traditional format, also known as SUPER ruleset, requires a lot of consistency and rewards teams who find the right balance between aggressiveness and overall understanding of the games.
Both Bottom 16 and Weekly Finals being at stakes, I’ve decided to treat every series with equal value considering the overall format of the tournament, and the necessity for all team, to perform well : either to maximize their chances to reach finals, or try to get a better share from the overall prize pool.
I’ve decided to approach this topic through the following metric: the difference between best and worst avg. kills/game over the three series.
Maximum avg. kills / game is the best average over a single series.
The grade is referring to the amount of time the team has played in Weekly Finals.
Players
Among players with an average over 0,8 kills / game over the tournament, we’re pleased to see players such as SzylzEN and LuRenA who are certainly providing a lot of support and confidence to their mates by being very solid despite two consecutives bottom 16.
While Tianba came short this week with a 10th place, and only 6 games to qualify, META should be able to finally claim their spot for Weekly Finals.
Teams
When it comes to teams, there is no surprise to see both iFTY and 4AM at the top. They are not only the most consistent teams since Rank Decision, but they are also the first two teams in terms of Prize Money with respectively 39 250$ and 56 250$.
On the other end of this ranking : while NAVI had a rough year with average placements compared to what they’ve been used to in Europe, and obviously still struggle to find their cruising speed, it’s more surprising to see KIA in such a difficult situation. The format being really rough, they’ll need strong mental fortitude to recover, and pretend to a top spot at PGI.S.
With each week being more important in term of cash distribution, it’s the right time to find a solution for teams used to play bottom 16.
